Achieving Compliance with the Building Regulations Part L

This 1 day course will provide professionals within the building industry with valuable practical guidance on how to demonstrate compliance with the new part L1A and L2A approved documents and amended L1B – L2B.

The new Approved Documents detail the next step changes to the Government’s intention to achieve zero carbon dwellings by 2016 and zero carbon non-dwellings by 2019. Advanced NEC4 ECC User's Guide

This 1 day course will provide delegates, already experienced in using the ECC, with a review of the contract in use at an advanced user’s level.

It will be particularly attractive to delegates who have already been on a Construction Study Centre’s NEC and NEC Compensation Events courses. It is necessary that delegates should have a detailed background and a working knowledge of the form.

The course will include pre-event conference calls to delegates to obtain their specific views as to course content. It will refer to worked examples, and include ‘tutorial’ type sessions and practical tips.

Building Access and Egress: Compliance Standards for People with Disabilities

This brand new 1 day course will provide statutory national regulatory guidance to clients, design professionals and contractors engaged in the construction of new buildings and alterations/extensions to existing buildings including historical buildings for the access and egress of People with Disabilities using buildings.

The course will include national Building Regulations requirements, British Standards and Equality Act legislation requirements for all types of buildings including reference to supplementary guidance documents.

First Principles of Planning and Scheduling

This is a new Foundation level course. The course will be based around standard Planning and Scheduling techniques and methodologies.

The inclusion of the practical application of techniques, via training exercises, is paramount to delegates gaining an understanding of the basic calculations and results that computer based systems so readily generate. All training exercises will be manual (pen, paper, flip chart etc.) followed by delegate discussion on results. No specific computer based toolsets) will be utilised although examples of available toolsets will be discussed briefly towards the end of the course.

This 1 day course will provide an overview of the legal requirements and associated risks of managing all non-residential properties in the private and public sector, and how to go about taking the danger out of buildings.

This course covers the risks, principles and importance of managing health and safety in buildings as well as the legal responsibilities in doing so. Health and safety within buildings takes into consideration legionella management, asbestos management, fire risks and statutory inspections of electrical, gas, pressure and lifting systems ensuring non-residential properties are risk free.

NEC: Managing and Assessing NEC Compensation Events

Category: Contract and Law
This 1 day course will provide a detailed insight into the mechanisms for managing and assessing compensation events and claims, including ways in which the ethos of the contract can be used to assist project managers, contractors and subcontractors.

The course will also provide a detailed analysis of the contractual basis to compensation events and claims, under the 3rd Edition of the ECC Contract as well as the Subcontract, Professional Services Contract and the other forms.

Subcontracting with the Latest NEC4 and JCT

This 1 day course deals with the legal and associated commercial issues involved in Subcontracting including risk and the allocation of risks between the Parties, setting up the Subcontract and common problems that arise all too often.

The course will consider the subject matter in the context of the NEC and JCT Subcontract forms and will make comparisons with previous Subcontract arrangements including Dom/1, Dom/2 and the CECA blue form. This course will most benefit those working for contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.
